Nirvana Retreat is the “creation of passion “of two seekers who have lived in many parts of the world and yet have the never ending love for the Darjeeling Himalayas. We are neither a homestay nor a hotel.

Nirvana Retreat is an expression of our deepest sensibilities and has been built with love and joy.

The panorama of the mountains smiles on you. Surrounded by reserve forests on two sides and facing the magnificent Kanchenjunga mountain range in the Himalayas, we are a nature lover’s dream.

Nirvana Retreat is stylish, of international standards and yet has that very personal touch we would like to bring to you as your hosts. We are a luxury, boutique, “home away from home” above Kurseong at 6191 feet above sea level.

You wake up to cloud-kissed rooms dappled in sunlight and take in the fresh mountain air as you sip on our in-house tea maker’s specialty chais. Fresh air and verdant green lifts you up. You step out and feel the pure unspoilt world of nature.

Blessed with an abundance of flora and fauna, time truly stands still at Nirvana Retreat.

Great Place to Stay

We have 9 tastefully furnished, well-heated, international standard suites at 3 levels utilizing the natural contours of the terrain. Every bedroom is Kanchenjunga-facing with large balconies and sit-outs.

The suites are of 4 types:

3 Premium Suites: Kalij, Kalchura & Ranichari
3 Deluxe Suites: Hareni, Soon Balchi & Nayul
2 Garden Suites: Lahache & Jurelee
1 Garden Room (with sit out): Chibay

In case you are wondering what these names mean, they are all local birds you will spot in the Darjeeling Himalayas.

Each suite comes with its own balcony (or sit-out when at garden level). Each has provision for an extra bed which can easily accommodate two children or an extra adult if you are so inclined.

All suites come with attached bathrooms, WIFI & Cable TV.

Our gardens are at 3 levels and cover 60% of the site. Green lawns and a riot of seasonal flowers greet you as you step into the open.

On chilly nights, we have bonfires going in our gardens to keep you cozy and warm.

We also have ‘reasonable access’ for guests with physical disability.

We are fond of pets. Please enquire with us if you are thinking of bringing your pets.

Fully equipped kitchen with handpicked chefs to cater to your every need. Our al fresco dining is perfect for you to enjoy the outdoors, or you can enjoy the view and keep cozy from our indoor dining room too.

A tea house serving the best of local Darjeeling teas and specialty teas from elsewhere in the world with a range of fresh mouth-watering snacks.

Every facility looks out onto an uninterrupted view of the Kanchenjunga range.

Enjoy a game of pool, table tennis or darts in your spare time. Indoor games on request.

Check out our library of books located at garden level, the upper lobby and reception. You’re sure to find something of interest. If you do, we’d be happy for you to take it home with you as a memento of your stay with us.

Getting there

Kurseong is situated in Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal, India. The nearest airport is Bagdogra (60 Kms), the nearest Railway station is New Jalpaiguri (57 Kms) and the nearest City is Siliguri (51 Kms).

Regular flights or rail connections connect this part of India to Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and the North East.

Kurseong is just an hour and a half uphill from the airport & railway station.
